How does a reverse osmosis system work?
An RO system pushes water through a series of filters: a sediment pre-filter, a carbon filter, the RO membrane, and a carbon post-filter. The membrane has pores so small that dissolved solids, chemicals, and microorganisms cannot pass through. Clean water goes to your faucet and contaminants are flushed down the drain.
How often do RO filters need to be changed?
Pre-filters and post-filters should be changed every 6 to 12 months. The membrane itself typically lasts 2 to 3 years. We service and repair RO systems, so ask us when yours is due.
Does an RO system remove healthy minerals too?
Yes, RO removes minerals along with contaminants. Most of the minerals your body needs come from food rather than water.
